Home webcam viewing
Once I realized I had a webcam already in every room of my house because of the laptops, I figured there had to be an i Pad/i Phone app that would let me wirelessly stream a live webcam feed. After going through about 6 or 7 apps, I ended up sticking with 3 apps that work pretty well. In this article, I’ll go through the three apps I tested and verified that work well in streaming a live feed of your webcam to your i Pad or i Phone over Wi Fi.
I didn’t test the whole 3G/4G remote viewing capabilities because that doesn’t seem like it would work well in any app and I didn’t need that feature.
When I moved it to better quality, the image got better and the delay became even worse!
I thought it had something to do with the computer or my Wi-Fi network, but when I installed the other two apps I am about to mention, the video quality was much better and the delay was usually under a second.
i Cam has been featured on the Today Show, CNN, and Good Morning America in addition to the "Dog Lover" i Phone TV Ad - uses include baby monitor, pet cam, nanny cam, spy cam, and security camera.
Record and playback Motion Events and Receive Push Notifications on your i Phone, i Pod touch, or i Pad when Motion is Detected by your i Cam Source(s) - Visit video demonstrations.
The optional Unlimited Private Proxy Data auto-renewable subscription is currently US.99/month and can be canceled at any time.
Note: If you have a stand-alone camera or IP camera, there may already be an app built specifically for it, so check those out first as a native app will always work better.
Overall, the process was easy to setup, but I was not happy with the quality of the video.
For some reason, the video was very choppy and also pixelated.
Please note that to use i Cam you will also need to download the free i Cam Source software from or purchase our i Cam Source Mobile app.
The i Cam Source software supports Windows Vista/7/8/10 and mac OS 10.9 and later.
